In 2004 I came to JNU like any other economics student keen on - TopicsExpress

In 2004 I came to JNU like any other economics student keen on building a career for me in either an American University or the Corporate sector. It was the SFI which changed my world view, made me a left leaning student and then a left activist. The last decade saw many ups and downs, especially since the 2007 Singur-Nandigram triggered developments. For those of us who could see that the Baddhadeb Bhattacharyas of the world were doing the exact opposite of what we struggled for or were taught in CESP, our department which trained us in academics of dissent, it was a struggle within the organization and party, while facing repeated defeats and criticism in JNU. For me and my comrades, the struggle within ended in June 2012, when the SFI Unit in JNU was dissolved for opposing CPI (M)s unprincipled support to Pranab Mukharjee in Presidential elections. The SFI General Secretary was rewarded with a Rajya Sabha Seat for attacking the principled SFI Unit in JNU. Comrade Subhanil was more than the SFI Unit Secretary and my party Branch Secretary in JNU. He taught me to hold my head high while facing all adversities for the cause of the left. Unlike the majority of the SFI crowd in JNU today, which is motivated by the prospect of currying personal favours from the party leadership and is doing activism from Coffee Shops and social media, Subho worked for the Party while maintaining his political-ideological differences with utmost commitment. While the scavengers are still trying to save the back of the gang which has taken over the CPI (M) to extract the last ounce of flesh from the party, which has been built by sweat and blood of thousands of activists, Subho had the political-moral courage to call the bluff of the bankrupt and degenerate leadership. Result, the scoundrels who have been expelled by the people have expelled him for serving the party selflessly for 14 years. Red Salute Comrade. You are not alone. The thugs in Alimuddin and AKG Bhawan cannot expel the mass anger which left minded people have across the country. Let us Bombard the Headquarters. Turn sorrow into hatred, hatred into anger and anger into resistance - Comrade Che shows the way.
