Now the same bureau that can make it harder for you to get your mortgage loan if it doesn’t think you manage your finances well enough isn’t keeping its own house in order. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau estimated the cost to renovate its rented building at $55 million in 2010, now the bureau wants to spend $215.8 million and counting, but still have no accountability to Congress.
