In 2010, Tony Abbott attempted to bribe newly elected Andrew Wilkie who was one of the Independents holding the balance of power in the hung Parliament, with one billion dollars for a new hospital in Tasmania, IF he joined with the Coalition. Wilkie subsequently announced he would support the ALP. NOW in 2014, with Independents again holding the balance of power in the Senate, Tony Abbott is in private talks with Jacquie Lambe from Tasmania over special deals with Tasmania in an effort to gain her support in the Senate. This is what can happen with Independents. They are open and vulnerable to the cunning manipulations of the Abbotts of the political world. Lambe is unfortunately not as astute as both Wilkie and Windsor, when both men understood that Abbott would say anything, promise anything, to get their support. I predict once Abbott has Lambes votes, he will give the finger to Tasmania and deny ever having agreed to doing any deals. with Lambe.
