In 2011, I met with the Executive and proposed a Youth and Family Enhancement Initiative. One of the programs I proposed was the creation of a Youth Employment program, that would give youth the opportunity to learn important job skills for life. The Executive included the initiative in his budget request and the Council funded it. The Department of Recreation, under Gabriel Albornoz leadership, established the Teen Works youth employment program. Tonight Council President Craig Rice and I, celebrated the talented participants and their families. Congratulations!
