In 2012, Botswana spent close to 8% of its GDP on education, Burkina Faso spent 3.4% of its GDP on education, S .Africa spent 6% of its GDP on education, Ghana spent 8.2% of its GDP on education and Niger Republic that is considered to be among the poorest nations spent 4.5% of its GDP on education at the same time, the so-called giant of Africa (Nigeria) spent less than 1% of its GDP on education. 99% if not hundred 100% of the rich children are not schooling in Nigeria. So the on-going strike to properly shape Nigerian Universities by ASUU is to salvage educational system which ASUU believes, if succeeded, quality education will be at door steps for the common people’s children.
