In 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court declared that mandatory juvenile life without parole sentences are unconstitutional. Many other states have responded by passing legislation that would allow JLWOPS a chance for parole in as little as 10 years. Not Colorado. Governor Hickenlooper quietly blocked legislation for two years. A governor who ignores a United States Supreme Court ruling? A legislature that declines to pass legislation to bring Colorado into compliance with the law of the land? Governor Hickenlooper, you are term limited. You CAN do the right thing without worrying about your re-election. Legislators, new and old, you are supposed to LEGISLATE. And to uphold the constitution. Pass legislation in alignment with the U.S. Supreme Court to give the Forgotten 48 a range of sentences and a reasonable chance for release.
