In 2014, I spent time, travelling from one city to another, listening to artistes play at live concerts, joining some of them on tour buses, meeting the ones I loved their music, one-on-one. I acted like an obsessed fan. I dug Vinyl records; thanks to Julien Lebrun for opening my mind to real music. I was still piecing together materials for my new book, Hip-Hop is Only for Children. I reached out to musicians in Peru, Mexico, India and Uganda and other parts of the world. At the end, I thought I could pick out upto 10 albums I have enjoyed listening to, this year. I was wrong. I bought lots of albums, but then I still went back to my favourite artiste, Celestine Ukwu, whose album, Igede ushered me into a new era. But then, these albums I list below sparked up something in me. My taste is different, so its yours. So, enjoy all your club-bangers. These are the albums that healed my internal wound. Orliam Ave, Now Classic Seun Kuti, A Long Way To The Beginning Sena Dagadu, Lots of Trees Angélique Kidjo, Eve Flavour Nabania, Thankful Brymo, Tabula Rasa Tony Allen, Film of Life Casey Oritsejolomi Ed, Parisian Blues Asa Official, Bed of Stone
