In 25 years, RCS has spent about $10,000,000 to: Build a football stadium, complete with two sets of bleachers, and field lighting, as well as a two story PA/Coaching tower. Build an indoor swimming pool, with lockerrooms, and renovate it..twice. Build a wrestling room..plete with a rock climbing wall. Rebuild and renovate a baseball diamond with field drainage. Build an eight lane track...recently resurfaced for a second time. Build 4 tennis courts, recently resurfaced. In that same 25 years, RCS committed to spend a little over $10,000 on upgrades and renovations to the Girls Soccer field, and the Modified Soccer Fields at the RCS Middle school. These renovations have amounted to a perimeter drain around one field, and periodic (and incorrectly performed) turf aeration. So...Its interesting to note that a $30 Million dollar proposal to upgrade and/or renovate many of the above facilities, again, is footnoted with the following single statement in the RCS Press Release: Possible second proposal - $1.2 million - upgrade the soccer and softball fields west of the high school. Possible? Huh? I will advocate until my last breath for every student athlete who wants to play whatever sport that drives them, and the equitable support of those sports. Its time we start acknowledging, questioning, the very very real discrepancies in material support that RCS devotes to a sport that more kids play than football, baseball, softball, and track...bined.
