In 3 weeks time a dream of mine is about to be realised - the launch of a new not for profit dedicated to supporting those and their families affected by melanoma. Some of you will know that I lost my Mum, Judy Shelton to this disease 10 years ago. A wonderful woman taken way too soon. Some sobering facts about melanoma: • 1 in 18 lifetime risk (breast cancer 1 in 16) but melanoma gets nowhere near the same exposure (pardon the pun) or funding. • 1 in 14 (males); 1 in 24 (females) • Most common cancer 20-40yo • Death rates increasing by 0.5% pa (males, especially those aged over 60).
