In 4 days, on Tuesday, October 28 at 8pm EST, the 2014-2015 NBA season will begin as the current champion San Antonio Spurs raise their 5th NBA Championship banner and present Championship Rings to the players and staff. Living in a non-NBA franchise town, I receive a lot of comments and opinions not only of disinterest, but a lot of times of disdain and disgust with what people think they know about NBA Basketball. They say its a bunch of thugs and criminals, with self-promoting egos; that its not what it used to be and theres no defense, etc., etc., etc. It really saddens me that people around here judge an entire league based off a few news stories or rumors that really arent any different than any other pro sport. Not only that, but they completely dismiss whats been going on in San Antonio for the past 15 years. An NBA franchise has been changing the way basketball is being played around the world, through humility, character, leadership, team work, selflessness, fundamentals, strong work ethic, and poise. Furthermore, in those 15 years theyve become the winningest sports franchise in any major sport in the US — and they dont have a single player in the top 35 highest paid players in the league. If you used to like the NBA back in the days of Magic & Bird before it was all about egos and shoe contracts, I URGE YOU to watch this short video and reintroduce yourself to what NBA Basketball can be, as a fan of the San Antonio Spurs. #GoSpursGo
