In 73 CE, the Roman governor of Judaea Lucius Flavius Silva headed the Roman legion X Fretensis and laid siege to Masada. The Roman legion surrounded Masada, and built a circumvallation wall and then a siege ramp against the western face of the plateau. It took 2 years for 15,000 seasoned Roman soldiers to defeat the 960 Jewish rebels who held out. The end was not theur capture but mass suicide of the last remaining Jewish resistance to Roman rule in Judaea.........refusing to become slaves......we are back now, and never to leave our homeland again. Masada will never fall again...NEVER AGAIN
