In August 2011, while working at the Star newspaper, I published a front page story headlined KALONZO EMISSARIES APPROACH RAILA. The story was dismissed particularly by the Kalonzo side, as the ex-VP was fighting for his place in the then G7 alliance, that brought him together with Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto. I stood by my story in spite of the pressure to withdraw and apologize. Well in the run up to the 2013 general election, Kalonzo became Railas running mate and today both are in the opposition. Am not trying to be a prophet here but just trying to analyze the nature of Kenyas politics. Today, Uhuru is President and Ruto is Deputy President. The two were together in 2002 but separated and became bitter rivals in 2007 as both supported rival candidates. In 2013, they ran a joint ticket and won. With the dynamics of Kenyan politics, my believe is that politics has no permanent enemy but rather permanent interests.
