† In God I Trust † When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? Psalms 56:3–4 ESV Tired and needing a rest, David had been on the run from Saul, his own father-in-law, who was now seeking to kill him out of pure jealousy. Everything that he owned he had left behind and now he was seeking refuge in Gath. A city of the Philistines whom Israel had been at war with for years. His whole world was against him. Here in the midst of even more enemies, he wrote this psalm. When the whole world turns against you and you are afraid, God is still enough. When you place your trust in Him you cannot go wrong. The problems may loom over you like a dark cloud, but He can bring the sunshine again. David went on to be king and lived a very prosperous life after this season. Do not give up in the middle of this test. He that trusts in God will not be moved. In God I trust.
