In Honor to My Father… Father…those that met you recently, only knew your curved figure. Only knew your sad smile. Only knew the nodding of your head. Only saw your unbalanced body, tumbling in disagreement with the laws of gravity. But father, I was fortunate enough to meet the whole of you: the great mathematician, the unconditional reader; the knowledgeable speaker - that would gather crowds, just by starting a conversation at the coffee shop. People were thirsty of your words, and I can’t stop questioning myself father…how were you able to do it? How were you capable of attracting so many people? You were a true magnet…a true walking encyclopedia. Someone who was humble enough to listen to others. Who offered unconditional love, unconditional friendship to millions of people; who respected different opinions, who accepted different religions or political points of view; someone who advocated for the needy and was always free to help them. How many people did you teach for free? How many people did you push forward? So many…some of which are now recognized citizens - people that are spread around the four corners of the world. I was lucky to have you as a father. Someone that put up with my rebellious years; always with a smile on his face and a patient look in his eyes. Someone that, for the past year - without being able to speak - would spend his days trying to skype with me, until he was able to get hold of me. Father, you taught me: honesty, politeness, tolerance, and hard work. But I must say father, I have failed you far too many times, and I have a long way to go in learning to be like you. For that father I ask your forgiveness. Finally for those that only met you at the very end of your journey, father…I would say…my father was more than a scholar, a friend. He saved some lives and was humble enough to be discrete about it. Surprised? Well it is true. Wow…what can I say? Everyone speaks highly about their parents. But this was no ordinary person.
