In Jaipuria College, Kolkata, a lady student alleges about her molestation. Accordingly two persons were arrested by local police. After 24 hours, the said lady student goes to Sealdah Court, submits an affidavit and withdraws her complaint. So the accused persons got bail and became free. Now question is – why this has happened? There seems to be two possibilities. First, the said lady student might have been subjected to enormous political pressure which she could not bear at all. Because both the accused happen to be members of the present ruling party of West Bengal. Second, the said lady student might have told lies to teach some lessons to those innocent persons. We don’t know what is truth? It should come out immediately. Charge of molestation is a very serious charge. It is related with honour of all the ladies of our country. One should not use it falsely to satisfy her intentions. So, to my mind, police should not close this file. That lady student should get exemplary punishment if she is found guilty after thorough investigations. She has no right to make mockery of a privilege which is very closely with the honour of all womenfolk. If not, those accused should be severely punished irrespective of their political colours.
