In July 13 a few members of 299 Parachute Squadron RE found themselves integrated within 1 and 2 Troop of 9 Para Sqn RE during Exercise Eagle Sapper 2 which was a combat engineer exercise held at Wyke Regis training area in Weymouth. The first week saw the guys building bridges which included the Medium Girder over Bridge, Air portable ferry bridge and the Logistic Support bridge. During the latter part of the week the guys could relax a bit and enjoy the more leisurely watermanship training on the river fleet, practicing their boat handling skills. The first week then culminated with an inter Troop football competition and obligatory BBQ. The second week included a range package, signals training and an almost non stop 24hr bridge gallop where the guys had to build and strip 3 bridges. The guys from 299 found the Exercise enjoyable and very beneficial as it gave them chance to work alongside their regular counterparts from 23 Engineer Regiment 16 Air assault Brigade.
