In July we will launch the N.I.C.A project. Nurturing International Children’s Art. My sister and I along with two Foundation volunteers just returned from Little Corn Island. It is a 1.1 sq mile island off the East Coast of Nicaragua. There are no roads or motorized vehicles. Only walking paths, jungle, beach and ocean. The island has power a few hours per day. We spent most of our time vacationing, but we also worked with a local Children’s Reading Room. We brought arts & crafts supplies with us and spent an afternoon working with the kids. It was incredible to see their excitement with using scissors, glitter and bubbles for the first time. We decided that night that we would continue to support the reading room as an ongoing Foundation project. We will be raising money at different times throughout the year to fund the expenses of the reading room. Our first round of fundraising will start in Mid-July. Our goal is to raise $1K during our first campaign. Donation instructions coming soon!
