In June 2013 I had the opportunity to visit the Kartini pet market in Jakarta, Indonesia. The centipede in the video is Scolopendra subspinipes a pretty common species throughout much of Asia. They have even arrived to Hawaii. This is the only species of centipede that I have been bitten by. Asides from localized pain on my finger I had a slight fever and a cold feeling hand. All of these symptoms were gone the next day. So you can imagine how surprised I was with the vendor freely handling his wares!
