In Memoriam: Jean Mason, 1929-2014 It is with deep sadness that I report the loss this evening of my beloved mother Jean. She will always be remembered as the one who raised me from a young age after suffering the loss of my father, John following a heart attack. A woman who taught and showed me the respect for other women and the strength each of them has. She raised me without any public assistance, and supported me through college, a career in law enforcement, and professional life. She welcomed in three grandchildren who will miss her dearly, of whom she was very proud. My mother was stricken with Alzheimer’s, the onset of which appeared about nine years ago and progressed without pity. This disease is awful, one that no one should suffer, but yet a vast number of our American population has fallen victim together with complications attributed thereto. I will miss my mother and will remember her for all the great experiences she afforded me, lessons taught, and tolerance shown. My mother will be laid to rest beside my father in California.
