In September 2011 I watched this video below one late evening and when I went to bed I cried myself into sleep. Hearing the words of Era Eros prison guard Iyob Bahta was the last straw for me: That night, I decided to make the move from silent opposer of exactly 10 years to outspoken daughter of the country and people I hold so dear. It was not an easy move, but I have never looked back. Finally, I had liberated my conscience, and no-one, not family nor friends had the power to put that back behind bars. If you are silent till now, I urge you to listen to the interview below. And when you really listen you will suddenly see and feel the pain.....of a bundle laying on the floor of the 2x2 m prison cells in Era Ero...a mum...a former minister...a freedom fighter....a young journalist.
