In Sierra Leone, Vice-President Reveals Govt Plans for PLWDs By Edward Tommy Vice President Alhaji Sidique Samsumana has on Tuesday 5th November 2013 revealed government’s plans for Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) in Sierra Leone. He spoke at the National Stadium in Freetown during the opening of a National Seminar on Apprenticeship and Employability for PLWDs. According to the VP, government is working assiduously to improve on the living standard of disabled persons. He said though physically challenged or visually impaired, some disabled persons are capable of delivering even more than some able persons in society. “Disability is no inability” said the vice president, adding that it is not their will to become disabled but the will of their maker. He called on all to include PLWDs in all areas of development as they have roles to play in national development. The VP assured of government’s will to ensure that PLWDs are empowered, pointing out that the appointment of a visually impaired person by President Koroma as a deputy minister and the establishment of Disable Commission, were part of government’s commitment to promote PLWDs in Sierra Leone. news.sl/drwebsite/publish/article_200524123.shtml
