In a bit of a state of shock tonight. When we heard that R was going to need open heart surgery, we expected and were told to plan for an extended hospital stay - two weeks was the estimate. Weve now been told that hell likely discharge some time tomorrow, around 96 hours post-op. Im having a really hard time wrapping my brain around that. Meanwhile Im eating dinner at the Ronald McDonald House, listening to other parents exchange stories of their kids conditions and experiences and realizing - as if the outpouring of support from all of you wasnt demonstration enough - how fortunate we have been and continue to be. It was a rough day with R, but so many others have so many more rough days ahead of them. Perspective? Perhaps. Time to nap. Thank you all for everything.
