In a huddle with DoH epidemiologists this afternoon, I learned - TopicsExpress

In a huddle with DoH epidemiologists this afternoon, I learned many things about ebola. 1. Ebola virus is not as contagious as measles. All conditions being equal, a person with measles can infect 18 other people. A person with ebola can infect only two. 2. Ebola is transmitted via bodily fluid, meaning bodily fluids of an infected person has to land on you and enter into you. Measles is airborne and can be inhaled. A person with ebola virus can only transmit if said person is symptomatic otherwise the virus is not transmitted. 3. Ebola was transmitted to humans by bats and apes from the forests of West Africa because of intrusion by humans into the habitats of these bats and apes. Now this is an interesting angle. Sounds like several cases of airports being built in bird migration areas and then airplanes running their engines into flocks of birds.
