In a passing glimpse of Morning Barbados today, I was unfortunate - TopicsExpress

In a passing glimpse of Morning Barbados today, I was unfortunate enough to hear a lady, who in my view merely postulates as a Political analyst, because she lacks the diligence, and impartiality to make her submissions convincing. To be truthful, if the attempt in paying this individual taxpayer dollar was to have her fill the National Shoes left behind at the State own media house by Mr. Wickam, whom I consider one of the most candid, forthright, and impartial Political analyst ever, then we could stop wasting tax payer’s money. If on the other hand the attempt is to merely have, what I consider a Spin Doctor, whose job is to bandage and rehabilitate failed government political, social and economic policies, then pay her for work in progress. In her discourse the spin doctor suggested that the opposition was in some way trying to incite people in Barbados in some way that was untoward. She further lauded the fact that they did not have the support of the Unions this time around. What utter nonsense! Coincidentally -Today the world was greeted by the news of the passing of legend and freedom fighter Peter Seeger. Though many people readily identify with the songs he wrote or sang such as four very famous ones: Turn, Turn, Turn-which includes the lines ( To everything there is a time and a purpose under heaven)and Where have all the flowers gone, This land is out land, and We Shall Overcome; most Barbadians may be unaware of Peter’s fight for liberty and justice in the USA against a government of his time which sought to limit or destroy every form of legitimate protest the same way the Freundel Stuart Administration is trying currently. In Seeger’s time McCarthyism a popular form of governance was in vogue. McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of disloyalty, subversion, or being unpatriotic without proper regard for evidence. It also means the practice of making unfair allegations or using unfair investigative techniques, especially in order to restrict dissent or political criticism. Seeger was labeled leftist and unpatriotic because he spoke out against things the government was doing wrong. As a result he suffered financially because of it. On a daily basis it is clear that the accusations being leveled against the BLP are without merit or foundation yet DLP operatives are using taxpayer’s money to perpetuate them. I therefore would not be surprised if in the staff cuts many BLP supporters do not find themselves victimized because of affiliation. I find it interesting but sad that the DLP ‘Democratic’ Party in Barbados has become the so undemocratic in our recent times. As someone recently stated: “how exactly is the DLP protecting democracy when it is making Barbados financially and socially weak? How is it protecting democracy when (up to recently) the BLP could not even buy time on CBC to air a press conference on the economy? The good news for the DLP government is however as that person also reminded us, the government should have nothing to fear because: “whenever there was rebellion in this country, it was led by a non-Barbadian. Bussa – an African and Clement Payne – a Trinidadian. We are happy to grumble and in silence and if there was any hope of a spark of rebellion, Government has allowed it to slip out that they have imported riot suppression equipment” My consolation then is that we like Seeger be steadfast and Unmovable amidst the early morning, mid-morning, mid-day, evening, nighttime, and after hours re-run spin, WE SHALL OVERCOME.
