In accepting the best actor award, Matthew McConaughey said I need three things in my life to survive; God, Family and someone to look up to as a Hero. I decided that hero would be myself in 10 years, I pushed deadline back another decade. My hero is always 10 years away. My hero is myself, a few years down the line. That keeps me with somebody to keep on chasing. In my opinion that was the show stopper and the most gracious acceptance speech. I love his deepest insight when he was stating that he was his own hero, underlining that he will always be chasing that hero, and if you really pay attention to what that means youll understand that he is constantly moving forward to create a better self, and to be someone he can be proud of. I sincerely believe a lot of us can learn from that mentality.
