In addition to estrogens and insulin,the perfect storm for obesity is created by inflammation and low thyroid levels. Inflammation (on fire),is your immune system response to critter overgrowth. Overgrowth of the Candida critter occurs when there is inadequate production of hydrochloric acid. One outward manifestation will be the red cheek pattern seen in the young girl. Asthma is another manifestation of Candida overgrowth due to low hydrochloric acid. One class of hormone like chemicals produced by the immune system during inflammation are growth factors. Growth factors cause water retention and growth in size and number of fat cells. Normally,thyroid hormone and insulin work together to keep blood sugar levels normal. If thyroid levels get low,you produce more insulin to compensate. Candida overgrowth in the thyroid gland will produce the neck swelling seen in the second picture. The immune system is attacking (autoimmune) in an attempt to get at Candida critters hiding in thyroid cells. Thyroid cells get destroyed in the process,leading to the hypothyroidism associated with Hashimotos thyroiditis.
