In case any of you interested in the case were unaware, a jury found Dustin Gran legally sane when he killed Krista-Rae Pike in 2008. Deliberations took less than an hour, though one juror told ABC30 they were emotionally difficult. As a result, hell likely get life in prison without parole -- instead of in a mental hospital -- but as far as I know judges have the option to bypass prison for facilities that have appropriate care when an inmates health is concerned. Its unlikely a judge would take that route, however. Sentencing date will be determined May 5 as Grans attorney wishes to thoroughly review the trial records. Brittany Navarra, who allegedly orchestrated Pikes death out of romantic jealousy, is scheduled to begin trial in May. She faces charges similar to Gran that, if convicted, will likely net her a life sentence.
