In case you didn’t hear about it – which is highly likely, considering the 24/7 Zimmerman trial coverage that was going on far longer than the trial – last week, a bombshell was set off in Congress. A figurative one, I mean. Before a hearing of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, retiring IRS lawyer Carter Hull implicated a highly-placed Obama appointee in the targeting of Tea Party and conservative non-profit groups for IRS harassment. The official story is that a few rogue agents in Cincinnati were behind it all. But Hull has had a nearly 50-year career with the IRS, and he doesn’t seem interested in going into retirement with someone else’s mud on his reputation. Hull made it clear that the targeting orders came down from Washington, from Lois Lerner, the IRS official who’s already taken the fifth, and from the IRS Chief Counsel’s office, headed by William J. Wilkins, one of only two IRS officials directly appointed by the President. What does this mean for the Administration? Where will it all lead? Those are questions the media should be asking about all the recent Obama Administration scandals. But they’d rather talk about Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman. The use of that trial as a distraction from issues damaging to the White House has become so obvious that a joke is now going around. The joke is that George Zimmerman is thinking of changing his name to Ben Ghazi. That way, the media will never mention him again. - Mike Huckabee
