In case you havent heard, Joyce Oliver and I will be participating again this year in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure in Philadelphia. This is the third time for us and we are thrilled to be a part of something so worthwhile once again. Since our first walk in 2011 we have met so many incredible people: those who are currently battling this terrible disease, those who have fought the battle and won, and the loved ones of those who fought valiantly to the end. Stories of triumph and stories of heartbreak. Their stories have become part of ours. We proudly carry the names of friends and loved ones with us as a present reminder of those we honor and those we remember. If it would be meaningful to you, we will humbly add a name to our lists and commit to remember them on our journey. That is a big part of why we walk. Over the past few months, we have been building our stamina and increasing our walking distances to insure we will finish strong, but now we need to focus on the hard (least fun, but most necessary) part ... fundraising. We have intentionally waited until now to begin so we would not exhaust everyone with our requests (pleas) for donations, but that leaves us only 40 days and 40 nights to each raise $2300.00 (the minimum to participate). If you have supported us before or if this is the first time, please know that you are appreciated, not only by us, but by the countless people who will benefit from your generosity.
