In death as in life, Peanut did it his way: on his schedule and - TopicsExpress

In death as in life, Peanut did it his way: on his schedule and with a lot of hoopla. The Littlest Monster crossed the Bridge last night after experiencing distress. His breathing became labored, he stumbled around as if he was being hit, and he barked at The Bigs and me…something he never does. I rushed him to the vet, where they gave him a sedative and helped him pass peacefully cuddled on my lap just before 5:30. Peanut touched so many lives, many of people we’ve never even met. He had an army of Angels who loved him and he knew it. Thank you to everyone who cared about him, who supported us in his journey, who sent him gifts, who donated to his medical funds, and who cared about the little Devil Dog who was dealt all the wrong cards at the start of his short life. When he showed up on my doorstep, this was just supposed to be a temporary stop. There were times I didn’t even like him very much at first with his ear-piercing little puppy bark, his demanding nature, his extreme talent for getting into trouble, and his need to go outside every two hours. Somewhere along the line though, he cuddled his way into my heart and he was worth all the trouble in the world to me. Please know that he had a good last 15 months surrounded by people who loved him. He didn’t get the cheeseburger I had waiting for him in the fridge, but I will let Doc and Bena enjoy it in his honor. Goodbye Stinky Little Cuddle Monster, you will be missed. Run free without pain, and eat all the cheeseburgers, tacos, and cupcakes you want. (Thank you to Amaya Tater for most of these photos).
