In earlier days many people were seen smoking publicly. Now such scenes are very rare. The smokers learnt that it is good for health. Now only a few are drinking liquors. These people will realize its health hazards sooner or later and the habit of drinking will end. we must try for persuading not to use liquor which is a menace to the society. There is no need to ban liquor and it is not practicable. The Kerala Government in deep economic crisis. The loss of revenue from this item will effect the Government adversely. Not only that illicit brewery will flourish and it may results in unnatural death. If a man who consumes small doze of liquor, there is no fault in it. If a shop is opened to sell liquor , nothing will happen to the society. I remember once Smt.P.K.Sreemathy, former LDF minister in V.S. cabinet had mentioned in assembly that many MLAs comes to assembly to attend Assembly proceedings after consuming liquor. The aspect of hypocracy is involved when such people are arguing for closure of 418 bars. The decision to close bars is a wrong decision. the Government is going to face its consequences. This decision is a sequel to the rivalry surfaced after nominating Shri.V.M.Sudheeran as PCC president over viewing the opinion of Chief Minister Shri.Oommen Chandy and Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. Shri.Sudheeran has not understood the danger involved in this case. This decisionj is made not with good intention to save the society but the it is the out come of group rivalry. The minimum desires of the people cannot be denied by enacting law particular to their food habits. We can persuade the people not to use liquor which is dangerous to health. In Dubai liquor is available in all way side shops. We must not put restriction to the people. Let the people select for their desires and pleasures. The attitude of the church leaders, IUML and KC(M) are not based on any priciples. Who knows any political leaders have liquor shops under benami transaction and whether this closure of all liquor shops are related to their opinion expressed for the sake of face saving to pretend that they are also for closure of bars due to the circumstances which are beyond their control. Let us wait and see how story is emerging.
