In early June, while cutting up some strawberries, I dropped a large butcher knife just below the big toe on my right foot. It was a bloody affair! It hurt for a few weeks, then the pain went away, but something wasnt quite right. I procrastinated, and finally saw a physician in July. Diagnosis: severed the tendon that connects the big toe to the rest of the foot. I should have seen a specialist right away. Because i waited nearly three months, the surgeion was presented with a greater challenge beyond the normal procedure of cutting into somebodys foot to tie together the two severed ends of the tendon. Had that surgery today. I want to thank Dr. Jeffrey Szczepanski of the Great Lakes Foot and Ankle Specialists and the staff at Northwest Michigan Surgery Center for their professionalism, courtesy, and incredible talents. On crutches for a few days, and booted up for a couple of weeks. Should be back on the air this Friday.
