In early September 1939, the American journalist, photographer and film maker Julien Bryan, travelled by train from Bucharest in Rumania to Warsaw in Poland, via the pre-WW2 railway connection Bucharest-Iassy-Czernowitz-Sniatyn-Lwów-Warsaw. In Warsaw, Julien Bryan, documented the German airraids on photos and 8mm footages, until he was evacuated to Sweden via Königsberg in Germany on September 21, 1939. Julien Bryan managed to smuggle out all his negatives and 8mm footages from the warfare in Warsaw and Poland, which he published after his return to USA later in 1939. Here is some footage fragments, which Julien Bryan filmed in early September 1939, from the train between Bucharest in Rumania and Warsaw in Poland, a few days after the German attacked Poland. These old footages begin at the pre-1939 border between Rumania and Poland at the Dniestr River, where the Rumanian province Bucovina met the Polish province Galicia (00:10 - 00:30). Then you will watch Poles and other aliens boarding the train for Rumania, at the railway station in the Polish border town Sniatyn (00:25 - 00:38). The film ends with with footages, from several locations at the railway lines in Poland between Sniatyn and Warsaw (From 00:45).
