In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! (Hebrews 5:12) Have you ever been told by your friend to change your attitude, to toughen up or to be more of this and less of that? How did you react? Did you shrug off the comment as irrelevant? Or did you feel hurt and indignant? Or did you accept the correction and try to benefit from it? Only really good friends can say things that are hard to digest and yet do not damage the relationship. Words that bring to light a weakness in us are very hard to accept, but very needed to reach a level of maturity.
