In future,when my Kids ask me about Pirates...... Orlando Pirates is the mother of all teams in South Africa....let me name two former Orlando Pirates players that own clubs -- Kaizer Motaung and Jomo Sono Do you see that STAR on the badge?? Orlando Pirates is the only team in the Southern African Region to win the CAF champions league,they won it in 1995. 14 years later they returned,in the quest to win the CAF champions league AGAIN but they lost with honour and dignity in the two-legged FINALE,thus they got Silver medals which meant - Second Best in Africa Due to their Participance in the CAF champions league,their PSL fixtures had to be postponed and be rescheduled,as they were advancing more and more into other stages of the CAF competition...so this meant they faced a fixture CONGESTION and had to play catch up in their domestic league....Fatigue catched up with the players because they had to play double as compared to other teams,and this influenced their domestic league performance because they were TIRED....people wrote them off,they called them a bunch of losers, pie-rats , they even redirected the words Orlando Pirates as a referral to loss....all these people who said these things were people who did not know soccer and what travelling in and out of the country to play soccer did to the players fintness levels and body resistance....even their own supporters turned against them,the rivals celebrated the downfall of Orlando Pirates....all the boys needed was to REST....the term Once a Pirate,always a Pirate was no longer followed, they left Pirates all alone as if it had never done good before.....people forgot that every dog has its day , they forgot that things always change for the good , they forgot this was the same Orlando Pirates that defeated three of Africas biggest soccer GIANTS , they forgot this was Orlando Pirates that defied all odds in Lubumbashi DRC to beat the fraudulent cheating TP Mazembe, people forgot that this was the same Orlando Pirates that held and still holds the record of winning a DOUBLE TREBLE in SUCCESSIVE years in South Africa,people forgot that this was and still is the same Orlando Pirates that won every cup they have played for, people forgot that this was the same Orlando Pirates that was part of fighting the Apartheid regime by choosing their kit colours to be BLACK and WHITE meaning - black or white u were welcome a Pirates, this was the only team to UNITE black and white people and thus other teams benefited from this, this is a team that has invested so much into South African football,this was and still is the only team that raised the South African flag in Africa, this team was born in 1937 and it will never die. If you dont support us when we are losing,dont support us when we start winning...Peace Mabakaniya
