In his speech yesterday, President Barack Obama raised the issue of Article 25 and religious freedom of minorities in India. He provided the example of the tragic attacks on the Wisconsin Gurudwara as an example of a terrible act of violence and the need for religious tolerance. “In that moment [at Oak Creek] of shared grief, the two countries reaffirmed the basic truth that we must again today. Every person has a right to practice the faith that they choose and to practice no faith at all and to do so free of persecution, fear or discrimination,” he said.
