In honor of the 110th anniversary of Lili Damitas birth today, Im posting here a pagegyric that was written in the 1920s in praise of her legs which were renowned in those days. The author of this was Franz Wolfgang Koebner, the editor of the German publication, Das Magazin, which he managed in association with future director Robert Siodmak. (Koebner also wrote and directed several silents.) Herr Koebners lines on Lilis lovely limbs were then translated from German into French and appeared in a 1927 issue of Cinemagazine. While the French editor was not sure what Lili would think of this tribute, he felt it would be good if the French were aware of what people in other countries thought about one of their graceful screen stars. So in the following posts, translated from German into French and from French into English is this Teutonic tribute to Ms. Damitas gorgeous Gallic gams.
