In late January 2014, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer, after being a smoker for 40 years. We were absolutely heartbroken. But she was so strong. She quit smoking immediately, found a fantastic team of surgeons and had surgery just two weeks after finding the 2-inch tumor on her lung. We prayed nonstop that God would touch her and heal her. And by His grace, she was healed. They were able to successfully remove the tumor, and she was officially cancer-free just one month after her diagnosis. It was not an easy road, however. She spent a month in the hospital with a few complications, went home on oxygen, and eventually was weaned down to room air. She then underwent chemotherapy to prevent the cancer from returning. Now, she is undergoing radiation therapy, 5 days a week, for 5 weeks, and is staying with me at my house. I could not be happier, and neither could little Jake. He is loving spending time with his Ninny - and I am so glad to have her around. Just six months ago, I wasnt sure shed get to see him celebrate his first birthday. But by the grace of God, I have a feeling she will get to celebrate many, many more birthdays with him.
