In light of our recent #StarWarsMarathon, and the recent release - TopicsExpress

In light of our recent #StarWarsMarathon, and the recent release of the teaser for Ep VII, Ive been leafing through a number of websites. This is one of them, basically presenting the Star Wars movies (Episodes I-VI) as a chiastic pattern. The theory has merit. I feel it stretches a bit in some areas, but most of it seems pretty solid. (I also think chiastic patterns are inherent in the heroes journey, so if youre telling a stock version of THJ, youre going to inevitably have some form of chiasmus.) That said, no amount of intriguing structural technique and/or analysis can make up for the hot mess that is Episodes I-III. Bad writing, bad dialog, and bad acting told in a theoretically and structurally interesting (and interesting, here, is a stretch) way does not a good story make. And it certainly doesnt equate to artistry. Artistry, imho, is the whole package. Not just stumbling upon one particular aspect in an acceptable manner. Milk before honey, George. Wait, thats not it. Mountains before molehills, George. No, thats not right, either. Planets before star systems? Star Destroyers before Death Stars? I dont know. You get my drift. Also: tl, dr.
