In light of recent events that caused quite a number of disputes between members, there are some issues that must be clarified. This group was created to provide a fun and friendly place to enable people to exchange ideas and plant materials with each other. We encourage the flow of ideas as well as the exchange of plants and cuttings among the members, so that everyone benefits. You are welcomed to share your fig planting experience, the varieties of figs you have, your fig journey so far, experiments and so forth. We expect everyone to treat each other with respect and to reflect that in the tone of their posts. Personal issues and problems with individual members are best handled through PM or e-mail. Since this is a public group, everyone with a facebook account can join. Therefore, if you encounter someone unfriendly or an off topic post, please report it to the admin so that proper actions can be taken. Please be respectful in your choice of words. Profanity is not necessary. All members in the group should remember at all times to perform a search on the internet on the variety of figs that they will be buying and the type of the fig plant itself whether it is either a Caprifig type, Smyrna type, San Pedro Type or the self-pollinating Common fig type. We recommend Googling or looking into the “figs for fun” database for accurate information. In other words, the internet is your friend, use it to understand what your are buying. We would like to kindly remind all members in this group to not discriminate against any members in the group just because they are planting or selling a particular fig type that you are not fond of. Do ask that member why they are planting it or selling it in the first place and share your thoughts with the member by leaving a comment in their post or personal messaging them directly. Your opinion is just as important as other peoples’. We strive to make the group as fun, friendly, and helpful as possible, but include some judgment and caution when dealing with other members. From the admin’s perspective, this should be a fun an enjoyable place where people can meet and share and learn. I really want to keep “interventions” to a minimum. After all, we are open minded people. The summarized version, be friendly and helpful. Do not discriminate against other members. Your opinion is just as important as other peoples. Search the internet before buying anything.
