In light of the Russian aggression and signing the European Union - TopicsExpress

In light of the Russian aggression and signing the European Union Association Agreement, we keep hearing from the Government of Georgia the talks about possible Russian aggression and pressure. This threat is real but instead of specific preventive measures, there is a collaborationism propaganda from Georgian Government. The tendency is obvious – they are trying to convince population that in response to the likely danger, the Government can only woo Russia and not irritate it. This is a pure lie. Even Winston Churchill has said that Russia only respects power and if you have a choice between war and dishonor and you choose dishonor, you will have the war. There are several steps that need to be taken in order to minimize the likely threat coming from Russia. Collaborationism has never brought us any good. In order to avoid the 1921 tragedy, the Parliament of Georgia needs to adopt the Patriot Act (similar to the one that was adopted in the USA after 9/11), which will state that: 1. Denial of the Russian occupation will be punished by the Law; 2. Usage of Russian Federation symbols will be forbidden throughout the country and big penalties will be issued in case of violation; 3. Those political parties or Non-Governmental Organizations that are requesting to join Eurasian Union or deny Russian occupation will cease to function; 4. TV providers will be tasked to stop broadcasting political shows provided by the Russian TV channels. Ministry of Defense needs to take the following steps: 1. Resume the construction of defense lines around Tbilisi; 2. Re-launch the training program of the reserve forces; 3. Reconvene negotiations with USA to give Georgia the Air Defense System – “Hawk”. Ministry of Education and Science needs to do the following: 1. Resume the prohibition on bringing the Armenian text books in Armenian-Georgian schools, similar to the way it was in 2010; 2. Resume full-scale teaching of Georgian language in Samtskhe Javakheti region; 3. Resume bringing American and European teachers to Georgia, as it was in 2012 (1500 teachers and not just 60 as it is now). Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to stop the collaborationism politics and react to every aggressive step that Russia makes, starting from violating our air space ending with kidnapping our citizens or moving borders. Georgian problems need to be voiced and placed on the agenda of every international forum and organization.
