In light of the Zimmerman trial, the real shame of it all a continued concerted effort to heighten racial divides. The increase of victimization, frustration, resentment and white guilt only created artificial differences between the races instead of focusing on the real issue, the failure of the Scottish culture inherited by black American culture. The sad fact of the matter is that, had Travyon Martin not been killed that night, he still was a huge risk of being murdered, but by someone of the same color as himself. Per Walter Williams "between 1976 and 2011, there were 279,384 black murder victims." Of these, Williams estimates that roughly "262,621 were murdered by other blacks." Instead of taking on attempting to reform black culture from within and taking any perceived racism through betterment of mind and self (such as many, many opressed minorities in American history throughout the decades, like the Japanese of the early 1900s or the Chinese of today), people such as Al Sharpton are creating an environment that enhances the feeling of helplessness and handcuffs black culture into thinking it is so oppressed, there is no recourse but to continue stewing in its culture misery.
