In light of the announcement of the UAE’s plans to set up a space agency and the Arab world’s first mission to Mars by 2021, Yahsat CEO Masood M. Sharif Mahmood reflected: “The announcement by the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is a giant leap forward for the UAEs aerospace industry. In just under a decade, the UAE has achieved a tremendous amount in this sector, becoming the regions hub for satellite innovation - a great source of pride for our nation.” Mubadala CEO of Aerospace & Engineering Services Homaid Al Shemmari added: “Our country has made significant investments in space technology and through entities such as Mubadala, has taken an active role in developing the sector, ensuring knowledge transfer and establishing the UAE as a global player in the aerospace industry.” The UAE is proud to be one of the few countries in the world that will have a dedicated Mars exploration program to complete the 60 million km journey.
