In light of yesterday post about the 7 billion people line... Monday alone, in Walton county Florida, WE, collectively, will wake up and seek out $250,000 dollars in Starbucks or breakfast. We will drive $825,000,000 worth of vehicles to drop our children off at school and go to work. We will make calls and surf the internet to the tune of $105,000 in cellular fees. We will dine on $250,000 for lunch. Earning $6,500,000, we will spend $500,000 in gasoline to pick up our children and return to $9,675,000,000 in homes to prepare $300,000 in dinner to enjoy in front of $6,750,000 worth of televisions broadcasting $2,250,000 worth of cable and satellite signals. We will rest our heads on $9,000,000 in bedding. AND… even amidst these insane numbers there are nearly 3rd world conditions within our county borders. There is poverty and brokenness burning like fire. Not to mention the literally 10s of thousands of children world wide who will die from starvation on Monday. This isnt a guilt thing. Its just a these are the numbers thing. If you want to help…seek out those that are helping. Seek out those who have established roads into the dark places. Go to local organizations and churches. Find out what they are doing. Ask if you can help--time, money, muscle, resources, skills, connections. Who cares if its a perfect fit. Id rather be heading towards what I was made for, and not there yet, than standing still.
