In looking at who to interview for the BLEEP: Now WHAT movie I wanted to include a physicist who is firmly established in the scientific community, and who would be willing to say “that’s not correct” if we bent the interpretations of Quantum Physics too far into mystical land. A few years earlier David Kaplan contacted me about assisting him in making the film Particle Fever. This film is about the search and discovery of the Higgs Boson. David was uniquely qualified to make this, in that he was/is one of the leading theoretical particle physicists on the project. I had another project (QhettoPhysics) so David went off and made a really good film. And as we all know, they found the Boson! In the Now WHAT interview with David he gave us a wonderful insight into the mindset of Physicist actively working in their field and exploring all kinds of “crazy” theoretical notions about the nature of the Universe, or Multiverse. Meanwhile Particle Fever is out, playing in some theaters, and doing quite well. Its a film definately worth seeing. David put together a short video about why he made the film.
