You didnt deserve what you went through, So He gave you rest. Gods garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best And when I saw you sleeping, So peaceful and free from pain I could not wish you back To suffer that again. Nadine Starr Abbott Bowden, gently passed away March 15, 2014, into the expecting arms of her beloved Savior Jesus Christ. Nadine was born Nov. 14, 1940, in Bangor, to Linwood O. Abbott and Pearl Sukeforth Abbott. She attended schools in Bangor and Bucksport. As a young girl she aspired to become an artist, but that was before she caught the eye of the love of her life, Dennis R. Bowden Sr. Nadine cast aside her youthful ambitions and applied her talents to her marriage and raising five children. Married 54 years, she and Dennis crafted a wondrous life together. A life that was built on tradition, a life filled with love and laughter. As a career Army wife Nadine was called to serve her country by creating homes for her family in foreign lands in faraway places. When her husband received orders, so did she. Nadine had a deep love of adventure and looked forward to every new duty station and the challenge of making it into a home for her family. No one in the family can forget what a little firecracker she was. Though she be, but little, she is fierce. Traveling alone to her first overseas duty station, in 1967, Nadine bravely loaded up her five babies, all of whom were under the age of seven years, and off she went to join her husband in Okinawa. Nadine enjoyed her life as military wife. She and her husband traveled the world. Nadine especially loved the time she spent with her family living in Alaska. She hunted, bagging two moose with one shot. She fished, pulling in a King Salmon that weigh almost as much as she did. She went camping on the beach, in tents, with her 15 grandchildren every summer. She enjoyed berry picking and tending to her garden in the Land of the Midnight Sun. After living in Alaska for 25 years, she returned to her roots in 2003, back to Maine. She once again crafted a beautiful, loving home in Stockton Springs. The past few years found her and Dennis traveling between Seabring, Fla., and Maine. Nadine was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was filled with energy and a zest for life. She was a good and faithful wife, a tender loving mother who set the standard for her children to follow when they too would become parents. Her home was always beautiful and welcoming. Nadine would cook special meals to sooth broken hearts. She sewed prom dresses and Halloween costumes until her fingers ached. She played make-believe and had tea parties with her grandbabies. She crafted incredible holiday experiences for the whole family to enjoy. She gave generously of her time to her church and community. Nadine would want to be remembered as a woman of faith who loved and trusted in the Lord. She was a prayer warrior for her family. Her favorite scripture was Ephesians 1:19-23. Her greatest hope was that all who knew her would come to know the Lord as their loving Savior. Nadine was a mother extraordinaire: A true artist; her children and her marriage being her greatest masterpieces. Nadine leaves behind her husband and lifetime love, Dennis R. Bowden Senior; her five children and their spouses, Kelley and Edward Sadosky Jr. of Brewer, Toni and Steve Mertz of Eagle River, Alaska, Dennis and Sue Bowden Jr., of Bothell, Wash., Geri and Patrick Stewart of Westfield, Mass., and Tracy and Mark Funk of Arnold, Mo.; and her 15 grandchildren, Adam, Joseph, Annie, Jacob, and Molly Sadosky, Jason and Patrick Robichaud, and Andrew Snelgrove, Brigid and Ian Bowden, Christopher Dant and Katie Jones, and David, Joshua and Ben Funk. She leaves behind her five newest loves, her great-grandchildren, Seth Robichaud, Trinity Sadosky, Natalie Dant, Adrienne Robichaud, Nadine Robichaud, and Evangeline Funk. She also leaves her brothers, Michael, and Robert Chavaree; her special aunt and uncle, Gloria and Lloyd Turner Sr.; and sister-in-laws, Paula Bowden, and Lorelei Lowell.
