In my opinion the recent result that Paul Woods achieved in the Knowsley by election was really encouraging to people who believe in democracy and truth. Labour has such a hold on Knowsley they think they will never be removed from office. Again, in my opinion the council administration in Knowsley can only be described as dangerously corrupt. This is what happens when people have been in power for too long. So it is a refreshing blast of fresh air to see one of Huyton’s Independents get over three hundred votes. In effect Paul Woods took half of Labours vote. For over a year Paul Woods along with his friend and fellow Independent campaigner Peter Forrest have spoken to the good people of Knowsley in Huyton Village conveying and explaining the corrupt way in which the Knowsley Labour run council have been behaving. Many other good genuine people have also joined in with them. Labour has tried to have them moved on by community officers and the police but, up to know have failed. A recent article about the election written in the Daily Post (which in reality is a pro Labour newspaper owned by the Labour supporting Daily Mirror) by journalist David Bartlett highlighted the behaviour of the Labour party and returning officer Knowsley’s Chief Executive Sheena Ramsey, who was literally barring people including the press from the count. This not only illustrates the corrupt undemocratic nature of the Knowsley Labour group but also shows how senior council management are also involved in what in my opinion can only be described as a viper’s nest of maladministration. This again is proof that the Labour party in Knowsley takes the Knowsley Independent group very seriously. Daily Post journalist David Bartlett headlined his Daily Post article with: Sinister side to the one-party state in Knowsley (the council that did not want democracy to be seen). Once again, Knowsley ‘s Labour party will be worried about these tenacious Independents. This can be further authenticated by the fact that they did a massive leafleting campaign leading up to the election and this is something they don’t really do in Knowsley because with the demise of the LibDems Labour didn’t really have to do much of a campaign . They, the Knowsley Labour party, will have to campaign now wont they!
