In my personal opinion President Barack Obama should have sent a representative to represent. President Clinton sent a letter as well as in attendance the member of congress who represents Mississippi. A man who dedicates 52 years of his life to service with a spotless record and warranted a celebration worthy of a president shouldould have been enough to compel the first African-American president to show up or send a representative. It was said many times today that our Mayor For Life Marion Barry built this great city we call the Nations Capital. I am grateful and appreciative to have met and served him on several occasions. With the last being his visit to the Goodman League where he enjoyed our soon to be famous Soul Wingz. As Bruce Johnson so eloquently said he was much more than a politician. As I ponder what my contribution to society is I am compelled to pick up the Barry mantel and run. To have walked with Dr. King, Stokly Carmichael, Andrew Young, Julian Bond and countless other freedom fighters and choose to fight for the great city of Washington DC and chose not to make a reputation for himself. Is definitely a man worth honoring Washington DC honored the Moses of our generation, our modern day type of Christ and burden bearer for his people. #Compelled2ChangeAGeneration #ServingWithOthersInMind
