Must girls be prim with mouths closed up tight, A sight of decorum and beauty? Can a girl put on pants, and in life take a chance, Must she dance with a curtsy and smile? Can a boy have long hair, play with dolls, be quite fair, And care with his heart the whole while? Can a child be a child? Must a list be compiled Full of traits that one must Hither to? Why must we decide How a child should abide, Based on what boys and girls Ought to do.
