In order to contain the rumor mill, we are going to confirm that an attendee of Ragged Roots did pass away from what appears to be an opiate overdose this past Saturday night. We have been trying to figure out how to address this because, while we all feel so horrible that it even happened, we also need to make sure that it is very clear that we do not promote this event as any sort of drug event. In all of our online and printed materials, there is a clear and defined focus on the music and the bands that create it. It is clearly stated that this event is a networking showcase for independent musicians and loyal supporters of live music from around the Midwest. Nobody affiliated with Ragged Roots Revival or Edge O Dells Camping Resort had any idea that anything like that would even be on the premises and if we had, it would have been dealt with swiftly. This was literally the ONLY negative event out of hundreds of very positive events that occurred at the fest over the weekend. The mission of Ragged Roots Music & Arts Festival is to provide a networking showcase for independent musicians and loyal supporters of live music from around the Midwest and it will continue to be so in years to come. We extend out deepest sympathies to all that have been affected by this tragedy and we ask that everybody do what they can to help any brothers or sisters who might be battling addiction and we strongly encourage all who struggle with addiction to reach out for help while you still have the chance.
